Mikko Rantanen did it all himself in Dallas.
Rantanen scored all three goals for the Stars on Tuesday, capping his hat trick with a power-play goal at 3:52 of overtime to beat the Bruins 3-2 at American Airlines Center, per the NHL.com recap.
Watch the overtime winner:
Miro Heiskanen sent him the puck near the goal line. Rantanen took it slowly to the net and finished with a backhand to the glove side. Jason Robertson picked up the assist and had two on the night.
According to the Associated Press, it was the 11th three-goal game of his career and his first in the regular season since he joined the Stars. He also became the fourth Stars player with an overtime hat trick since the franchise moved to Dallas.
Boston had the early edge. Matthew Poitras scored 2:09 into the game, then Rantanen tied it at 2:50 of the second period by burying a rebound. James Hagens put the Bruins back in front at 7:30 of the second.
Rantanen answered late. Roope Hintz’s shot hit Charlie McAvoy in the slot, the puck bounced to the face-off circle, and Rantanen snapped it home at 13:38 of the third to make it 2-2.
Dallas never led in regulation. The Stars took the game anyway once they drew an overtime power play and Rantanen went to work.
Jake Oettinger stopped 18 shots for the Stars, who are 5-3-1 and have won three straight. Jeremy Swayman made 22 saves for Boston, which fell to 7-2-1 after winning five in a row and going 3-0-1 on its four-game road trip.
The Stars also have Jamie Benn chasing 1,000 career points as he started the week six away.
