Tom Wilson got his Price Is Right moment, and it went about as well as anyone could have hoped.

The Capitals winger was one of four NHL players on Monday night’s hockey-themed episode of The Price Is Right Tonight on Citytv. He helped a contestant named Dan chase money for a dream honeymoon, and Dan sank the final putt.

Wilson was paired with Dan for a hockey-golf hybrid game, per RMNB. Dan was one short tap-in away when Wilson gave him the pep talk: “It’s all in the hips, right? Alright, I’ve got faith he’s got this. Bang it home!”

Wilson, Islanders defenseman Schaefer, Oilers defenseman Walman and Kraken defenseman Montour filmed the episode in June. The players were announced for the show last week, and Maple Leafs alumnus Wendel Clark also made an appearance.

Wilson told NHL.com’s Dave McCarthy why he said yes to the invite: “I felt like I had to do it. Just the nostalgia of growing up watching it. It’s a pretty famous game show, probably one of the top of all time.”

He also admitted he might not be the best pricing partner anymore.

“I’m probably worse now than when I was a kid because I don’t know what anything costs, but it’s really cool to be here,” Wilson said.

Schaefer had a similar problem. The reigning Calder Trophy winner talked about how little grocery shopping he has done, and how his dad has been helping him learn the basics.

“My dad’s the pro,” Schaefer said. “Imagine if I could get an earpiece and he’d be in a grocery store just running down the aisles and stuff.”

Host Howie Mandel, a big hockey fan, said the NHL brought a different level of energy to the set. NHL President of Content and Events Steve Mayer, who set the whole thing up with the show’s executive producer, wants more of it.

“I think we need to do more and more of this and this is living proof,” Mayer said. “The players love doing things that aren’t necessarily in their comfort zone.”

Montour got the Plinko board, Walman and Schaefer had their own contestants, and Wilson walked away with a win. Not a bad night for four guys who spent the summer on a game show set.
