Brady Tkachuk did it again.
Tkachuk scored his second straight hat trick Thursday, tying the game with 13 seconds left in regulation and winning it 2:23 into overtime as the Panthers beat the Canucks 3-2 in Sunrise.
The overtime goal came on a wrist shot from the left hash marks, and the NHL had the video of the winner:
Florida needed all of it. Vancouver got goals from Liam Ohgren and defenseman Elias Pettersson in the first period and took a 2-0 lead into the third. Leevi Merilainen stopped 36 shots, and the Panthers didn’t beat him until their 32nd shot of the game.
Tkachuk broke through at 11:11 of the third with a wrist shot off an Aaron Ekblad pass. Then, with Akira Schmid pulled for the extra attacker, he one-timed a Carter Verhaeghe feed from the right circle for the 2-2 tie at 19:47.

He scored all three Florida goals in a row, which makes it a natural hat trick. The first one came Tuesday in Columbus, when he scored three straight in the second period of a 7-3 win. We covered that one when Matthew Tkachuk assisted on all three.
That’s six goals and seven points in two games for Tkachuk. Seth Jones had two assists on Florida’s final two goals, and Schmid made 15 saves in his second straight win as the Panthers moved to 4-2-2.
Florida did lose forward Eetu Luostarinen midway through the third period after he crashed into the back boards on a clean hit from Pettersson.
Things look a lot worse in Vancouver. The Canucks are 2-6-1 and have lost six straight, including the first five games of a six-game trip. Filip Chytil made his season debut after missing time with a preseason shoulder injury, and he set up Pettersson’s goal. The Canucks also traded Aatu Raty to Toronto before the game. Up next, they visit Tampa Bay on Saturday while the Panthers host Seattle.
