Brady Tkachuk scored his first three goals as a Florida Panther in one period, and Matthew Tkachuk set up every one of them.
The natural hat trick came in the second period Tuesday night in Columbus. The Panthers trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes on a Kent Johnson goal, then Brady scored at 2:27, 6:00 and 10:30 of the middle frame to flip the game.
The first one came off a turnover, with Matthew feeding his brother to tie it. The second was a power-play tap-in in the slot after Matthew found him open. On the third, Matthew sent the puck to Sam Reinhart for a one-timer, Cam Talbot made the save, and Brady banged in the rebound.

Here’s how the three goals broke down:
| 2nd period | Strength | Assists |
|---|---|---|
| 2:27 | Even strength | Matthew Tkachuk |
| 6:00 | Power play | Matthew Tkachuk, Seth Jones |
| 10:30 | Power play | Sam Reinhart, Matthew Tkachuk |
Matthew wasn’t done. He also assisted on Carter Verhaeghe’s power-play goal at 17:50, which capped a four-goal second period, and picked up a fifth helper on Reinhart’s goal early in the third.
It was the third hat trick of Brady’s NHL career. His first regular-season point with Florida came a day earlier, on a between-the-legs pass against Buffalo.
The Panthers won 7-3. Brady came over from Ottawa in a summer trade, and the brothers had been put on a line with Sam Bennett only a few days earlier. Tuesday was the first night that trio turned into a pile of goals.
