Four NHL players are about to find out what a showcase showdown feels like.
The NHL announced Thursday that Oilers defenseman Jake Walman, Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer, Capitals forward Tom Wilson and Kraken defenseman Brandon Montour will appear on The Price Is Right Tonight, the Canadian primetime spin-off hosted by Howie Mandel.
The NHL takeover episode airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Citytv, and it will stream on Citytv+. Maple Leafs legend Wendel Clark is in the lineup too.
None of this is live. The episode was filmed back in June, so the players got their competitive streak out of their systems during the offseason.
Here’s a look at Schaefer, the 19-year-old Islanders alternate captain, celebrating on stage with a contestant:
Wilson, the Capitals winger, wasn’t shy about the hugs either:
Hockey stars on a pricing show isn’t a first. Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin appeared on the American version in 2010 alongside Jeremy Roenick, with Drew Carey hosting.
Watch Crosby and Ovechkin take their turn:
The timing works out for Walman, since the Oilers are off Monday and return Tuesday night against the Minnesota Wild. Edmonton enters that game as the only team in the league without a regulation loss at 5-0-1.
