The Bruins are about to lock up Marat Khusnutdinov.

Kevin Weekes reported Tuesday that Boston and the 24-year-old forward are closing in on a contract extension. Weekes said it is a multi-year deal,.

Here is the report from Weekes:

No dollar figure or term has been reported yet. Weekes only said the two sides are close.

Khusnutdinov has become a regular in the Bruins lineup. He has 20 goals and 43 points in a little over 100 NHL games, and five of those goals have come through nine games this season.

Head coach Marco Sturm has treated him like a Swiss Army knife, sliding him around the middle six and using him in just about every situation. Among Bruins players 23 and under since 2020, Khusnutdinov is one of only two to hit 30 points and 10 goals in a single season.

The Russian forward also gives Boston something it does not have much of right now, which is a young forward who can play anywhere in the lineup. The Bruins have been working through a few contract situations this fall, including Pavel Zacha, where the two sides were not close on an extension earlier this month.

Khusnutdinov is off to a strong start and now it looks like he will be in Boston for a while.
