- Rod Brind’Amour said Taylor Hall’s upper-body injury “doesn’t look good”
- The Hurricanes recalled Bradly Nadeau from the AHL’s Chicago Wolves
- Read below for how Carolina’s forward group looks without Hall and Jordan Staal
The early word on Taylor Hall’s injury isn’t good.
Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour was asked about Hall after Tuesday’s 4-2 win over the Capitals, and he didn’t sugarcoat it. The upper-body injury, which knocked Hall out of the game in the second period, “doesn’t look good,” Brind’Amour said.
The team announced during the game that Hall would not return:
Joe Smith of The Athletic relayed Brind’Amour’s comments from the postgame room:
There is no official timeline yet. The Hurricanes are still evaluating Hall, and Brind’Amour’s tone says plenty about where this is headed.
Carolina responded Wednesday by recalling forward Bradly Nadeau from the Chicago Wolves:
Nadeau is 21 and has 60 goals and 115 points in 120 AHL games over three seasons. He has played 15 NHL games, mostly in a bottom-six role, so this is his best shot at sticking.
The injuries are stacking up fast. Captain Jordan Staal is out one to two months with a partially torn calf, and Seth Jarvis is also sidelined. Hall had three goals and two assists this season, and he skated on a line with Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake through the Stanley Cup run. We covered the original injury news Tuesday night.
The defending champs get a quick test of their depth. They visit the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
