The Hurricanes lost another forward on Tuesday night.

Taylor Hall left the game against the Capitals in the second period with an upper-body injury, and the team said he would not return.

Here’s the team’s announcement:

There’s no word yet on how long he could be out or what the injury is.

Carolina is already short up front. Captain Jordan Staal is out one to two months with a partially torn calf, and Seth Jarvis is also out of the lineup.

Hall has been a big part of the top line. He played with Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake through the Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup run, and the trio has stayed together to start this season.

Hall has three goals and two assists in seven games this year. William Carrier has been filling in on that line with Jarvis out.

If Hall misses time, Carolina has Bradly Nadeau and Felix Unger Sorum with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.

Tuesday’s Hurricanes-Capitals game was also the last regular-season visit to Raleigh for Alex Ovechkin, who is on his farewell tour.
