Michal Postava has his first NHL win.

The Red Wings goalie made 25 saves and then stopped all three Oilers shooters in the shootout as Detroit beat Edmonton 4-3 at Rogers Place on Monday. It was Postava’s first NHL start and second game in the league.

Watch the moment the win became official:

The 24-year-old made his debut last Thursday when he came in for John Gibson in a win over Vancouver, which we covered here. This time he got the net from the opening faceoff and needed every save.

Edmonton took a 3-2 lead on a Colton Dach tip with 3:28 left in regulation. Postava went to the bench for the extra attacker, and Dylan Larkin tied it at 18:34 by kicking a pass up to his stick and slipping it between Tristan Jarry’s pads.

Catch Larkin’s tying goal:

Postava then denied Evan Bouchard from the slot with nine seconds left in overtime to push it to a shootout. Lucas Raymond scored the only goal of the shootout, and Postava shut the door on everyone else.

Viktor Arvidsson had a goal and an assist for Detroit, while Raymond added two assists. Emmitt Finnie scored the 2-2 goal 30 seconds after Isaac Howard gave the Oilers a power-play lead. The Red Wings improved to 5-4-3 and finished their road trip 2-1-1.

Edmonton dropped to 8-2-2 and has lost two straight. Connor McDavid picked up an assist to stretch his point streak to start the season to 12 games.

The Oilers also had a scare in the second period. Zach Hyman needed help off the ice after Andreas Englund hit him and his head made contact with the glass.

See the hit:

Hyman is 34 and missed the first six games of the season with an upper-body injury. Edmonton is already without Matt Savoie, Jason Dickinson, Mattias Janmark, Mattias Ekholm, Alec Regula and Frederik Andersen.
