Sidney Crosby is five points away from passing Marcel Dionne for sixth on the NHL’s all-time scoring list.

Crosby has 1,767 points through 11 games of his 22nd season. Dionne finished with 1,771, so Crosby ties him with four and moves past him with five. The Penguins have two games on the schedule this week, hosting the Utah Mammoth on Thursday and visiting the Canadiens on Saturday.

Crosby is 39 and still producing like it’s 2010. He extended his own NHL record with a 21st straight point-per-game season back in April:

Dionne is only the next name on the list. Ron Francis sits fifth with 1,798 points, which puts him 31 ahead of Crosby. We already ran through the Crosby milestones to watch this season, and the climb up the leaderboard is the big one.

Crosby played Saturday in a 3-2 win over the Predators. Early in that game, a linesman signaling the play onside accidentally gave him a karate chop:

Erik Karlsson has a milestone of his own in sight. He’s one point behind Chris Chelios’ 948, and passing him would put Karlsson in the all-time top 10 in scoring among defensemen.

The league also has a full Saturday on tap. The NHL is calling it Hockey Halloween, with 10 games on Oct. 31, the most on that date in 11 years. The first puck drops at 1 p.m. ET when the Bruins host the Blackhawks, and the Flames visit the Avalanche in the only late game.

Crosby’s trip to Montreal is on that Saturday slate. If he’s still short of Dionne by then, the Canadiens get a front-row seat.
