Martone Mania is officially moving product.
Porter Martone and Trevor Zegras have the two top-selling player jerseys on NHLShop.com through the first week of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, per NHL.com. That’s a pretty wild development for a Flyers team making its first postseason appearance since 2020.
Martone’s numbers are the headliner. Sales of his No. 94 sweater have jumped 1,714 percent since the playoffs started, after the 19-year-old rookie grabbed back-to-back game-winners to start the Pittsburgh series.
He signed a three-year entry-level contract on March 29 right after wrapping up his freshman year at Michigan State, where he put up 25 goals and 50 points in 35 games. In 12 NHL appearances since, he’s got 13 points and a 3-0 series lead over the Penguins to go with them.
“He seems always to be in the right areas,” teammate Christian Dvorak said. “And it takes a smart hockey player to have that. He’s been huge for us. The puck finds him. Making a lot of the right plays. Special young player, and it’s been great to play alongside him.”
Zegras isn’t far behind at No. 2. He scored his first career playoff goal in Game 3 and has three points through three games. His No. 46 got a boost from some recognizable Philly faces Wednesday night, when former Eagles Super Bowl champ Fletcher Cox and comedian Shane Gillis showed up in Zegras sweaters for the 5-2 Flyers win.
The rest of the league isn’t being shut out either. Overall merchandise sales for playoff teams are up 58 percent since the bracket opened, with Buffalo, Philadelphia and Montreal pacing the field as the top-selling clubs since April 18.
Game 4 is Saturday at 8 p.m. ET at Xfinity Mobile Arena. One more Flyers win and Philly is into Round 2. A lot more Martone and Zegras sweaters figure to be on backs by then.
