Frank Nazar has been suspended two games for his hit on Bo Horvat.
The NHL Department of Player Safety announced the decision Friday night, ruling the Blackhawks forward delivered an illegal check to the head of the Islanders captain. Here is the league’s announcement:
The hit came at 18:25 of the third period in New York on Thursday, and Nazar was handed a match penalty on the play. Under the CBA, he will forfeit $68,041.14 in salary. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Nazar will miss Saturday’s game against the Hurricanes and Tuesday’s against the Penguins. He becomes eligible to return Oct. 15 against the Jets, per theScore.
This is the first suspension of his NHL career. He had a hearing with the league Friday, which we covered in our hearing story.
Horvat is still being evaluated. Islanders coach Pete DeBoer said Friday the captain was going to see doctors and see how he felt. New York plays the Lightning on Saturday, and Horvat leads the team with four goals and five points through four games.
Nazar has two goals and three points in five games this season, and the Blackhawks are 1-4-0. Chicago will play the next two without one of its top young forwards.
