Teemu Selanne is awesome.

Selanne arrived in style to Ryan Getzlaf’s pregame retirement ceremony in Anaheim on Sunday. Getzlaf suited up in the final NHL game of his career against the St. Louis Blues at Honda Center.

Selanne drove-in on a custom-painted Honda Talon ATV which he gifted to Getzlaf. As soon as Selanne was spotted driving in, the crowd at Honda Center went wild. Selanne is an Anaheim legend who spent 15 NHL seasons playing for the Ducks.

The Ducks PA announcer made a funny joke that the driver doesn’t come with the vehicle. Getzlaf could only smile when Selanne got out of the vehicle and presented Getzlaf with his gift. The two legends then shared a special embrace.

Getzlaf is every-bit deserving of the love he’s been receiving leading up to his retirement. The veteran centre finishes his career with 1,018 points in 1,156 NHL games. He’s the only Anaheim player to record at least 1,000 points and play in at least 1,000 NHL games.

Getzlaf and Selanne were lethal during their prime years and played together on Anaheim’s dynamic power play. Getzlaf and Selanne won the Stanley Cup together in 2007 and have remained friends since Selanne retired at the end of the 2013-14 season.

It’s only fitting that one Anaheim legend delivers another Anaheim legend a retirement gift in such epic fashion.
