The Sabres lost their captain in the middle of a game.
Rasmus Dahlin suffered an upper-body injury Monday against the Florida Panthers and was ruled out for the rest of the contest, per theScore.
Dahlin appeared to be in discomfort after a shot attempt in the second period. He went for a change 11 seconds into a Sabres power play and never took another shift.
The Sabre Report posted the video of the moment. Take a look at the shot where he seemed to tweak something:
Buffalo hasn’t offered a timeline in the initial reports, so the severity is unclear. An upper-body label covers a lot of ground, from a day-to-day knock to something that costs him real time.
The Sabres can’t afford to find out the hard way. Dahlin has a goal and two assists in six games this season, and he was a Norris Trophy finalist in 2025-26 after piling up a career-high 74 points.
Buffalo plays again Tuesday as part of the 16-game Frozen Frenzy slate. Whether Dahlin is in the lineup for that one is the next thing to watch.
