- Club owner Seth Hurwitz and his son Sam presented him with an oversized golden ticket

Alex Ovechkin now has a lifetime pass to one of Washington’s best-known music venues.
The 9:30 Club gave the Capitals captain free tickets for life on Sunday night after he scored career goal No. 930. The club posted the news on X and called Ovechkin the “inaugural member of THE 930 CLUB,” a golden ticket that gets him into any show.
Here’s the club’s post:
Club owner Seth Hurwitz and his son Sam handed Ovechkin the ticket in the locker room. It came in two sizes, an oversized golden one and a smaller version that fits in a wallet. Capitals owner Ted Leonsis and his wife Lynn joined them for the photo.
Hurwitz told Ovechkin to flip the smaller ticket over and look at the back.
“It’s good to have goals,” Ovechkin read out loud.
“Exactly,” Hurwitz said.
Hurwitz also told Ovechkin how much the city appreciates him, according to RMNB. “We’re so proud to have you in DC all this time and thank you for spending your whole career here, man,” he said.
The goal itself was the first of Ovechkin’s 22nd and final NHL season. He beat Seattle goalie Joey Daccord late in the first period on a feed from Ilya Protas, though the Capitals lost 5-3. We broke down the Ovechkin goal No. 930 when it happened.
Take a look at our post of the goal:
Ovechkin has history with the venue. The Capitals took over the 9:30 Club in November 2022 for a retro jersey party, where he took the stage and pretended to stage-dive. Hurwitz has been open about his team loyalty, too. RMNB asked him whether the tribute was intentional and he answered, “We are Caps fans. Isn’t everyone?”
The club has operated since 1980 and has hosted Nirvana, R.E.M. and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ovechkin is the first name on its newest list.
