- Jersey Nerds leaked 20 Hometown Remix jerseys, nearly two-thirds of the league
- The Oilers’ version is black with orange and grey trim, a first for the franchise
- Read below for what the leak shows and how Edmonton teased it
The Oilers’ Hometown Remix jersey is out before Edmonton wanted it out.
The Jersey Nerds account posted 20 of the NHL’s upcoming Hometown Remix uniforms Tuesday, close to two-thirds of the league. Edmonton’s is black with orange and grey trim, which would make it the first black sweater in Oilers history.
Icethetics, the account most fans trust for NHL uniform news, responded to the leak and said the images look legit:
Icethetics added that not every detail lines up with what he has, so the final designs could differ in spots. The post quoted above is the only confirmation so far, and the NHL and the teams haven’t said anything.
The Oilers jersey in the leak keeps the look that showed up at practice earlier this month. The logo drops the royal blue for orange and grey outlines, and the numbers are orange on black. Connor McDavid’s 97 shows up as a dark-on-dark nameplate with an orange outline.
We covered that black practice gear when it first appeared, and the leak lines up with it.
Edmonton also dropped a teaser last week. The Oilers posted a graphic of black fabric with a string of numbers, and each number is a letter of the alphabet. Decoded, it reads “Oil Country After Midnight.”
The rest of the leaked batch has plenty of color. The Panthers are in pink, the Maple Leafs are in cream, and the Blackhawks and Ducks both go green. The Senators land in black and gold, and the Capitals keep it blue with a Capitol dome logo.
All 32 teams are getting a Hometown Remix jersey this season, as our rundown of the program laid out. The Oilers haven’t announced a reveal date.
