The Oilers’ Hometown Remix jersey is starting to show up on the practice ice.

Edmonton hit the ice Monday at Rogers Place with black gloves, black pants and a recolored Oilers logo, which lines up with the black alternate that has been rumored since the winter. It would be the first black sweater in franchise history.

The logo keeps the usual design, but the royal blue is gone. The “Oilers” script is black, outlined in orange and grey, which gives it almost a neon look. Black matte helmets also appeared to be part of the setup.

The goalies took the biggest swings. Levi showed up in bright orange pads, and Daily Faceoff Edmonton shared a photo of the new gear from the session:

Jarry went the opposite direction with an all-black look and subtle grey and orange accents. Neither set has been confirmed as part of the Hometown Remix uniform, but nobody breaks in gear like that by accident.

The Oilers have not said when the jersey will be revealed. Their 2026-27 jersey schedule release from Sept. 28 said the Hometown Remix dates would be announced later and added to the schedule.

Teams are already rolling out their versions. The league announced the program for all 32 clubs back in August:

The Predators wore a navy preview at practice earlier this month, and the Flyers are slated to wear theirs Nov. 3.

Edmonton’s version was long expected to be black, and an earlier report pitched a “Flint Tropics” vibe for the design. Monday’s practice gear points to black as the base. Orange and grey look like the accent colors.

Levi is 4-1 with a 2.83 goals-against average in his first season with the Oilers, so the pads have a lot to live up to.
