Victor Hedman is hurt, and the Lightning are calling it day-to-day.
Tampa Bay announced Saturday that the 35-year-old defenseman will not play against the Utah Mammoth because of a lower-body injury. The team gave no timeline.
Hedman got hurt in Friday’s 6-3 loss at Colorado. He took one shift in the second period, ended at the 3:04 mark, and never returned. He finished with 5:56 of ice time.
Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley spotted that he wasn’t out for the third period:
The team didn’t explain his absence during the game, and head coach Jon Cooper didn’t bring Hedman up in his postgame media availability.

Hedman had been lined up with Crozier on the third pair in warmups. Tampa Bay played Saturday without him, and Nikita Kucherov became the franchise’s all-time points leader in the overtime loss.
Hedman has two goals and two assists through his first nine games. He’s in his 18th NHL season with 815 points in 1,174 games, a Norris Trophy in 2018 and a Conn Smythe in 2020, and two Stanley Cups with Tampa Bay in 2020 and 2021.
