William Nylander has 300 NHL goals.

He got there Saturday night with an empty-netter at 17:56 of the third period, his second goal of the game, as the Maple Leafs routed the Oilers 7-2 at Rogers Place.

Nylander needed 763 games to reach the milestone. That makes him the fourth-fastest Swedish player in NHL history to 300, behind Tomas Sandstrom (675 games), Mats Sundin (698) and Filip Forsberg (742).

His first goal of the night came on the power play at 5:59 of the third, a one-timer from the left face-off dot off a Darren Raddysh pass that made it 4-1. Watch it here:

Toronto has won four in a row and sits at 7-4-2. Anthony Stolarz stopped 30 shots in goal, and he talked about the energy the young players have brought to the room.

“The vibes are great,” Stolarz said. “We got a great group, an influx of kids that have a lot of energy, and they’re really bringing out the best in everyone.”

Jack Roslovic opened the scoring against his old team. He got his stick on a rebound before Jake Walman inadvertently swatted the loose puck into his own net, and Roslovic was credited with the goal. Roslovic played 69 games for Edmonton last season before signing with Toronto on July 1. Check out the play:

Auston Matthews, Troy Stecher, Zack MacEwen and Vinni Lettieri also scored for the Leafs.

Edmonton had no answer. Leon Draisaitl scored twice to stretch his goal streak to six games and lead the NHL with 12 goals. Connor McDavid added two assists to run his season-opening point streak to 11 games, which we covered earlier this week, and he now has 33 points.

Oilers coach Mike Babcock was asked about the performance after the game and didn’t sugarcoat it.

“I didn’t like anything about tonight,” Babcock said.

Edmonton dropped to 8-2-1, a night after beating the Hurricanes 6-5 in a shootout.
