Trevor Zegras attends New Jersey Devils playoff games to support Jack Hughes

Jack Hughes has a friend in Trevor Zegras.

Zegras attended Tuesday’s NHL playoff game between the New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes at Prudential Centre to support his friend Jack Hughes. The two buddies have known each other since childhood and developed a friendship during their time in the U.S. National Team Development Program.

Zegras was hoping his presence would provide a spark for Hughes and the Devils, as New Jersey was trailing 2-1 in the series entering the game. Hughes did score the first goal, but unfortunately, the Hurricanes took over from there and cruised to a 6-1 victory.

ESPN broadcast cameras captured Zegras in the stands during the action sitting beside Jack’s father, Jim. The two appeared to be having an interesting conversation, with Zegras seemingly impressed by something Jim said. Check out the clip below:

Jack Hughes spoke with ESPN reporter Emily Kaplan at the intermission about what it means to have Zegras supporting him. “Yeah, it’s good [he’s here]. He’s obviously a really good friend,” Hughes said. “So, for him to be here, you know it’s pretty cool.”

While Zegras was likely disappointed with the result, he still appeared to have a good time supporting his friend. Multiple Devils fans shared on social media that they met Zegras in the stands and got to take pictures with him. The Anaheim star was all smiles in the photos.

With the Devils now trailing 3-1 in the series, they will look to keep their season alive with a win in Game 5 on Thursday. If the Devils are eliminated, the silver lining is Hughes and Zegras can reunite and begin training for next season. The two friends typically spend their summers working out and participating in on-ice sessions together.

We all want a friend who supports us like Trevor Zegras supports Jack Hughes.
