Washington Capitals’ power forward Tom Wilson is back at it.

Wilson laid a devastating open-ice hit on Bruins’ forward Anton Blidh on Thursday. Blidh needed help going to the locker room. The Bruins’ announced Blidh wouldn’t return to the game due to an upper-body injury.

Wilson caught Blidh with his head down in the offensive zone during the first period. While Wilson has a reputation for dirty hits, he appeared to catch Blidh with a clean shoulder-to-chest bodycheck.

The Bruins fans at TD Garden started chanting “F**k Tom Wilson!” after the sequence, so it’s clear they didn’t like what they saw.

You can judge for yourself whether you think Wilson’s hit was clean or dirty.

There was no penalty assessed to Wilson on the play. The ref simply escorted Wilson to the bench after the big hit, as there were several Bruins’ players who wanted a piece of him.

The Capitals vs Bruins game was a nationally televised game on ESPN, so many media members weighed in on the hit. The overwhelming response was that Wilson’s hit was clean.

It’s easy to pile on Tom Wilson given his reputation, but this appears to be a case of a big clean hit with an unfortunate result. We hope Anton Blidh is going to be okay.
