Seth Jarvis might finally make his season debut for the Hurricanes this weekend.

Carolina opens a five-game road trip at the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET) before visiting the Calgary Flames on Sunday, and the forward is hoping to get in during that stretch, according to the NHL Status Report. He hasn’t played yet after having shoulder surgery in June.

Rod Brind’Amour was asked whether Jarvis will suit up on the trip.

“I would hope so,” Brind’Amour said. “He hasn’t been cleared yet, so when he gets that clearance, then we’ll see.”

Jarvis talked about where he stands after another week of skating without a ton of full team practices.

“We’re doing pretty good right now,” Jarvis said. “Hopefully it feels better, get some more rehab in over the trip, more skates and see where it’s at. It’s tough because we haven’t really practiced, so I haven’t gotten a ton of team practices in. But with the extra skates, we’ve done a lot of battle drills, which is nice for me. Just testing it out a little more. Everything feels good. Hopefully I’m playing soon.”

This has been a steady climb. Jarvis went through surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder, then spent the preseason in a yellow no-contact jersey. He finally switched to a regular practice sweater on Oct. 8, and Hurricanes reporter Walt Ruff spotted it first. We covered that step in our Jarvis contact update:

Carolina could use the help. The Hurricanes are 6-1-1 and riding a six-game winning streak, but the forward group is thinning out. Taylor Hall is week-to-week with an upper-body injury, and captain Jordan Staal is out one to two months with a calf tear.

Jarvis led Carolina with 32 goals last season, his third straight year over 30. He added four goals and 11 points in 19 playoff games on the way to the Stanley Cup.

If he gets the green light, the Canes get one of their top scorers back right as two others sit out.
