Devin Cooley walked into the Saddledome on Saturday with a rabbit in his arms.
The Flames goalie brought his pet bunny, Tito, to the building before Calgary’s game against the Anaheim Ducks. Tito wore a black Flames sweater for the occasion and looked completely unbothered by the cameras.
The Flames posted their own photos of the visit and pointed fans to the Calgary Humane Society, which also has bunnies available:
The NHL account shared the arrival on video too. Take a look at Tito getting the star treatment:
Tito is seven years old and has an Instagram page with more than 12,000 followers. Cooley runs it with his partner, Natalie Weyers, per Daily Faceoff.
Cooley didn’t get in the game. Dustin Wolf started in net for Calgary, and the Flames lost 4-2 to fall to 0-5-0. It’s the first time in franchise history they have opened a season with five straight losses, which we covered here.
The bunny was the best thing in that building all night.
The 29-year-old came into Saturday 0-2-0 with an .818 save percentage and a 5.01 goals-against average in two appearances. Last year he went 10-10-6 with a .909 save percentage in 31 games and then signed a two-year, $2.7 million extension.
The series moves to Anaheim on Tuesday. Whether Tito makes the trip is anyone’s guess.
