David Pastrnak finally got his first goal as Bruins captain, and he didn’t stop at one.

Pastrnak scored twice and added two assists Thursday as Boston beat the Utah Mammoth 6-1 at TD Garden. They were his first two goals of the season, and he had gone five games without one since getting the “C.”

Here’s the first goal, a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that made it 2-0:

Both of his goals came on the power play, which had been a mess. Boston entered 0-for-10 with the man advantage through four games and went 3-for-4 against a Utah team that came in with the league’s top power play at 61.5 percent. The Mammoth finished 0-for-7.

Pastrnak’s second goal also tied him with Brad Marchand for fourth on the Bruins’ all-time list with 422. Only Johnny Bucyk, Phil Esposito and Patrice Bergeron are ahead of him, and Bergeron’s 427 is within reach.

Pastrnak talked about tying his old linemate.

“Brad was a heck of a player, to tie him with the goals is amazing,” Pastrnak said. “I’m pretty sure I would still be chasing him a little bit if he was playing here.”

Bruins coach Marco Sturm was asked about Pastrnak breaking through.

“I’m happy for him because he’s excited and he’s very honored, but there’s also a little bit of pressure for having that ‘C’ on your jersey, so I’m glad the drought is over,” Sturm said.

He also set up Matthew Poitras for the 6-0 goal in the second period. Watch the play:

Morgan Geekie had a goal and two assists, all on the power play, and Jeremy Swayman made 36 saves. Utah’s Sebastian Cossa allowed three goals on eight shots before Karel Vejmelka replaced him late in the first.

The win snapped a two-game skid for Boston (3-2-0) and came three nights after fans booed the team in a loss to the Senators. We covered Tim Stutzle’s two quick goals in that game.

Utah captain Clayton Keller didn’t sugarcoat it. “We got embarrassed tonight,” he said. The Mammoth try to bounce back Saturday in Buffalo.

Pastrnak now has six points in five games, and Boston has its power play back.
