Nathan MacKinnon turned 31 on Tuesday, and the round numbers are piling up in front of him.
The 1,000th game is the closest one. He has 950 of them on the ledger, all in Colorado, so 50 more gets him there around January.
Points come next. MacKinnon sits on 1,142, which leaves him 58 short of 1,200 and keeps him second in franchise history behind Joe Sakic and his 1,641.
Turning 31 comes right after the best goal-scoring season he has ever had. MacKinnon led the NHL with 53 goals in 2025-26 and took home the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy for the first time.
He finished third in scoring with 127 points and buried 42 of those goals at even strength. His 97 even-strength points were the most anyone has posted in a season since Wayne Gretzky had 103 in 1990-91, per the Avalanche.
That season dropped him into a club with two other names in it. Mario Lemieux, Alex Ovechkin and MacKinnon are the only players in league history to win a Stanley Cup, a Hart Trophy, a Ted Lindsay Award, a Calder Trophy and a goal-scoring title.
