A hot mic in the game between the Colorado Avalanche and Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday evening at KeyBank Center caught Avs’ forward Nazem Kadri hilariously chirping Sabres’ defenseman Brandon Montour.
The sequence arose in the second period when Montour took exception to Kadri jabbing at a puck covered by his goalie. Once Andre Burakovsky and the ref steps in to seperate the two players, Kadri can be seen and heard telling Montour “You’re a sh*tty defenseman on a sh*tty f*cking team”.
Kadri is known for being a pest, but you could argue he was fairly accurate here. Kadri had already scored earlier in the period and the Avalanche won the game 6-1. The Sabres have lost four of their last five games and are on track to miss the playoffs for a ninth straight season.
It’s still a savage chirp from Kadri, who has been thriving in Colorado since being traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kadri added an assist against Buffalo and is up to 17 goals and 32 points in his first 47 games with his new team. Montour has managed just three goals and 13 points in 38 games for the Sabres this season.
It was a tough night for the Sabres, who had no answer for Colorado’s second line of Kadri, Valeri Nichushkin and Burakovsky. The trio combined for three goals and six assists to dominante the Sabres, giving superstars Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen a night off from their usual domination.
