The Red Wings asked Dylan Larkin to widen his trade list. His camp told them no.
The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun said Tuesday on RDS’s Aux 4 coins de la LNH that interim GM Shawn Horcoff reached out to Larkin’s agents, Pat Brisson and Matt Williams, in the last few days. LeBrun called the standoff “a real poker game” between the two sides.

LeBrun relayed what Horcoff told the agents, in a translation of his French comments: “I’ve tried everything with the 10 teams on your list and I’m still unable to find a trade that makes sense for the Red Wings. Please, would it be possible to add other teams into this?”
Brisson’s answer, according to LeBrun’s sources, was a quick no. Larkin already gave Detroit 10 teams, and the Red Wings are capable of making a deal with them.
LeBrun said Detroit has been talking with six to eight teams outside the list that it feels have better offers. He named Montreal, Buffalo, Los Angeles and Boston, which he called “very interested,” among the clubs in the mix. As of late Tuesday afternoon, Larkin’s camp had not agreed to expand.
The 10 teams on the list are Minnesota, Vegas, Florida, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Colorado, Washington, Carolina, New Jersey and Utah. TSN’s Darren Dreger said earlier Tuesday that the Bruins want on that list and that Detroit hasn’t brought CAA a deal with a team outside it.
Horcoff has already said a trade is difficult with the teams Larkin picked. The Wild are one of them, and they offered multiple first-round picks in earlier talks, per LeBrun. Detroit hasn’t taken it.
Larkin remains suspended without pay while the Red Wings shop a captain carrying an $8.7 million cap hit through 2030-31 and a full no-trade clause.
