Dylan Larkin’s trade list just got one team longer.
The Red Wings captain has added the Dallas Stars to his short list of approved destinations, according to MLive’s Ansar Khan. Dallas joins the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Minnesota Wild as teams Larkin would waive his no-trade clause to join.

The addition matters because the first three teams went nowhere. Detroit couldn’t find an offer it liked from Florida, Vegas, or Minnesota, and Larkin’s camp opened the door to Dallas only after those talks stalled.
Dallas is a real fit on paper. The Stars have grown into one of the West’s best teams, and Larkin would slot in as a top-line center.
Getting a deal done is another story.
Detroit asked for Wyatt Johnston, the 22-year-old the Stars have no interest in moving. Dallas countered by floating the signing rights to Jason Robertson, who just turned down an eight-year, $15 million AAV offer from Seattle. Robertson’s next deal will clear $10 million, which is more than the Red Wings want to spend here.
There’s also the cap math. Dallas has about $10.6 million in space per PuckPedia, and most of it is spoken for with Robertson headed to arbitration.
Sean Shapiro flagged Dallas’s interest back in June:
Steve Yzerman isn’t in a rush. Detroit’s GM has said he won’t move his captain just to make him happy.
“My job as the manager of the Detroit Red Wings is always to do what is in the best interest of the Detroit Red Wings, and I will act accordingly to that,” Yzerman said.
Larkin’s no-trade clause runs through 2027-28, and his $8.7 million cap hit stays on the books through 2030-31. The 15th overall pick from 2014 has 643 points in 808 games but just one playoff trip to show for it.
Adding Dallas gives Yzerman a fourth dance partner. It doesn’t make the price any easier.
