Dylan Larkin wants out of Detroit. He just isn’t making it easy on anyone.

The Red Wings captain still hasn’t expanded his trade list beyond three teams more than two months after asking for a move, per the Detroit Free Press’s Helene St. James. The only clubs on it are the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights.

That short list is the whole problem. St. James reported that no offers from those three teams have intrigued Detroit, which leaves general manager Steve Yzerman working a market of three and getting nowhere.

Larkin holds a full no-trade clause that runs through the 2027-28 season, so he controls where this goes. His contract carries an $8.7 million cap hit through 2030-31, when he’ll be 33. That price tag is a hurdle on its own.

Yzerman isn’t looking to sell for futures either. He wants players who help right away, ideally a top-line center who can step into the role Larkin has held in Detroit for years. Prospects and picks aren’t the target.

One of Larkin’s preferred spots got more crowded, too. The Panthers took on another big contract when they landed Brady Tkachuk from Ottawa, which makes fitting Larkin’s deal into Florida even tougher.

Vegas has been the most aggressive of the three, with Elliotte Friedman naming the Golden Knights as a Larkin suitor last week.

None of this is about the player’s game. Larkin put up 34 goals and 33 assists in 74 games last season and has cleared 67 points in five straight years. The Waterford Township, Michigan native is a top-line center in his prime.

Here’s a look at what Detroit is trying to move:

Until Larkin widens the list, Yzerman is stuck bargaining with three teams that so far haven’t met his price.
