Cutter Gauthier just keeps scoring, and this one won the game.

The Ducks winger broke a 3-3 tie with 1:34 left in the third period Friday, lifting Anaheim to a 5-3 comeback win over the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome. It gave him 10 goals in his last five games, and no player in Ducks history has ever scored that many in a five-game span.

Watch the winner:

Mikael Granlund set it up. Gauthier took the pass at the right circle and one-timed it to the short side past Dustin Wolf.

Gauthier was asked about the hot streak after the game and kept the answer simple, just like his shot.

“Just keeping it simple and shooting the puck,” Gauthier said. “The more times you shoot the puck, the odds of it going in are more in your favor, so keep it pretty simple. Shoot it.”

Nine of those 10 goals came in the four games before Friday, which we broke down after the Oilers win. Before that he had back-to-back hat tricks, including this one against the Canucks.

Anaheim needed every bit of it. Calgary scored three times in the first period, with Hanley and Farabee adding goals after William Stromgren’s opener, and the Ducks went to the room down 3-1. Lukas Dostal allowed three goals on 11 shots before Ville Husso took over and stopped all 10 he faced.

Tristan Luneau cut the lead to 3-2 in the second. Leo Carlsson tied it 55 seconds into the third on the power play, finishing a pass from Beckett Sennecke.

Joel Quenneville talked about Carlsson’s recent run after the game.

“He’s been great the last 10 games,” Quenneville said. “He’s been possessed. Wants the puck all over the ice and making things happen.”

Nikita Nesterenko added an empty-netter with 14 seconds left. The Ducks are 9-7-1, have won four straight and have scored at least five goals in each of their past seven games.

Sennecke also had a moment earlier in the game. He tried a Michigan on Wolf, and Wolf shut it down:

Gauthier doesn’t need the lacrosse-style stuff right now. He’s winning games by shooting the puck.
