Connor McDavid never ceases to amaze.

McDavid scored one of the nastiest shootout goals we’ve ever seen Thursday night against Nashville. McDavid undressed goalie Juuse Saros with some ridiculously stickhandling that looked like it could’ve come out of a videogame.

McDavid’s goal was the shootout winner in a 3-2 Oilers win over the Predators. Goalie Mikko Koskinen turned away all three Nashville shooters to help secure his team the victory.

The Oilers’ captain moved in on Saros before getting him to bite hard with a few nasty stickhandles. By the time McDavid scored blocker side, Saros had flashed his glove up expecting the shot to come in that direction.

The Edmonton commentators said, “There’s a little piece of equipment that I think is in the corner from Saros”. We couldn’t have come up with a much better description ourselves.

McDavid usually blow minds with his speed, but it’s incredible to see his stickhandling skills up close. Saros is one of the NHL’s top goalies and a top contender to win the 2022 Vezina Trophy.

Saros actually stood on his head against Edmonton, making 44 saves in the loss. It’s unfortunate most casual hockey fans will only see him on the wrong end of a highlight Thursday.

McDavid’s shootout goal comes just hours after the Oilers officially announced they’ve signed controversial forward Evander Kane to a a one-year contract. Kane is expected to play on a line with McDavid and will join the team Friday.

It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours for Oilers fans with the Kane news and game against Nashville. McDavid’s shootout wizardry helped Edmonton pick up a third straight win following a seven-game losing streak.

We might take McDavid for granted sometimes, but his shootout goal against Nashville is a nice reminder that we’re watching one of the greatest hockey players to ever lace up the skates.
