Connor McDavid’s record assist streak is now 14 games.

The Oilers captain set up Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on a power-play goal at 18:26 of the second period in Edmonton’s 4-0 win over the Islanders on Saturday. McDavid has an assist in every game this season, and he pushed the mark past the 12 games Wayne Gretzky, Ken Linseman and Sebastian Aho shared when he broke the record on Wednesday.

Watch the feed that stretched it:

McDavid has 37 points (eight goals, 29 assists) in 14 games. He has at least a point in every game, so it is a 14-game point streak as well. The longest run he has ever had to start a season is 17 games in 2021-22, so he sits three games shy of matching that one.

McDavid piled up 35 points in October alone.

Nugent-Hopkins was the one who cashed in Saturday. He scored twice, opening the scoring at 8:42 of the second off a feed from Kasperi Kapanen before the power-play tap-in. Vasily Podkolzin made it 2-0 at 9:50, and Jason Dickinson iced it with an empty-netter.

Tristan Jarry took care of the other end. He stopped all 18 shots he faced for his second straight shutout, after blanking Calgary on Wednesday.

The win moved Edmonton to 10-2-2. It wasn’t a clean night, though. Isaac Howard left 2:22 into the game after a knee-on-knee hit from Emil Heineman, who was ejected.

The Oilers stay in New York for the Rangers on Sunday, with McDavid’s streak on the line again.
