Braeden Bowman is not getting suspended.

The league will not hand out any supplemental discipline for the elbow that sent Matthew Poitras to the ice Monday night, Frank Seravalli reported Tuesday. Bowman already took a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the play in the second period at TD Garden.

Seravalli explained the thinking. Bowman kept his elbow tucked into his body, so the play is not viewed as elbowing, and the head was not deemed the principal point of contact. The reverse angle also shows Poitras skating into Bowman.

Watch the hit and Seravalli’s breakdown:

The ruling leaves the injury as the open question. Poitras was not on the ice for Boston’s practice Tuesday morning, WEEI’s Scott McLaughlin said, a day after he left the game with the elbow to his face.

As we covered Monday night, Poitras was bleeding as he went straight down the tunnel. He came back to the bench wearing a full bubble shield with gauze in his nose, but never took another shift and finished with 3:13 of ice time:

Bruins coach Marco Sturm had no update on Poitras after Boston beat Vegas 3-2 in a shootout.

The 22-year-old has seven points in 12 games this season, and most of that has come on the fourth line. Sean Kuraly skated there in his place at practice.
