Connor Bedard was not happy with Phillip Danault on Friday night.
The Blackhawks captain took a blindside hit from the Canadiens forward during Montreal’s 4-1 win in Chicago, and Bedard let him hear about it. Our video caught Bedard shouting, “Are you f**ked?!” as he picked himself up:
The hit came after Bedard had already put his stamp on the game. He scored the opening goal 4:23 into the first period, taking a neutral zone feed from Patrick Kane, whose assist record came on a Bedard goal earlier this month. Bedard skated in and roofed a wrist shot over the glove of Jacob Fowler.
Catch the goal here:
It was Bedard’s second goal of the season. It was also the only one Chicago got.
Jake Evans tied it with 2:31 left in the first period and added a short-handed goal in the second. Kaiden Guhle made it 3-1 late in the middle frame, and Mike Matheson iced it into an empty net. Fowler stopped 20 shots, and Spencer Knight made 24 saves for Chicago.
Chicago had five power plays and still could not find a second goal. The Blackhawks are now 3-7-0 and have lost two straight.
Montreal did all of this without Nick Suzuki, who is out 2-4 weeks with an upper-body injury. The Canadiens head to Winnipeg for the Heritage Classic on Sunday, while Chicago hosts Florida the same day.
