Brady Tkachuk wasted no time moving on from Ottawa.

Tkachuk was asked after the Panthers’ loss about turning the page, and he went straight to Pittsburgh, the next stop on Florida’s schedule. Here’s what he said:

“It’s over and done with. Disappointed with the outcome, but it’s a really big test tomorrow, really challenging. You’ve got one of the greatest to ever do it stepping on the ice tomorrow,” Tkachuk said, talking about Sidney Crosby and the Penguins.

The night started with a video tribute that nobody in the building could hear over the boos. Tkachuk was asked how he handled the emotion of it, and he described the moment as something he’d never felt. According to NHL.com, he said: “It’s new. Those were my teammates not too long ago. New experience, once in a lifetime experience in that moment. So, just trying to have as much fun as I could.”

Tkachuk also talked about his goal, the one thing that went right for Florida. He scored in the first period on a power play at 10:00, his first as a visitor at Canadian Tire Centre. Watch it:

“Yeah, it felt nice, but at the end of the day it wasn’t the outcome that we wanted as a team,” Tkachuk said.

Florida’s night went downhill from there. Akira Schmid allowed five goals on 30 shots, and the Panthers managed only 19 shots of their own in the 5-1 win. Tkachuk finished a minus-2 with four penalty minutes.
