Alex Ovechkin trolls Rangers fans at Madison Square Garden

Alex Ovechkin is making the best of his injury downtime.

Washington Capitals’ captain Alex Ovechkin missed his third straight game with an upper-body injury Friday. The Capitals were in New York to face the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

While Ovechkin wasn’t playing on the ice, he still found a way to influence the game. The Russian legend taunted the Rangers fans and got them fired up during play. Ovi looked like he was having the time of his life.

Multiple fan videos surfaced on social media of Ovechkin in the crowd at MSG. The videos show Rangers’ fans chanting “Ovi sucks!” at the Caps’ legend. Ovechkin puts his hand to his ear to indicate he can’t hear them. Ovi also sticks out his tongue and breaks out a move at some fans after the Capitals scored.

It’s great to see Ovechkin in good spirits just a few days away from the start of the 2022 NHL Playoffs. The Capitals captain was in serious pain last week after crashing awkwardly into the boards in a game against Toronto.

Ovechkin leads the Capitals with 50 goals this season and has never missed a playoff game. Coach Peter Laviolette said there are hurdles for Ovechkin to clear in order to return to the playoffs on time. There’s a chance his postseason streak could be in jeopardy.

While it’s funny to see Ovechkin trolling the crowd, we hope to see the Capitals’ legend on the ice when the NHL Playoffs begin Monday.
