Team USA didn’t lose a game on Monday in Windsor.
Both American squads took care of business on Day 2 of the World Junior Summer Showcase, with USA Blue beating Finland 5-1 and USA White holding off Sweden 6-4 at WFCU Centre.
Ethan Wyttenbach was the story again. The Calgary Flames prospect scored twice in the second period against Finland, first on a breakaway off an Asher Barnett outlet pass, then by forcing a turnover in the slot and beating Juuso Ainasto from close range.

That’s a real turn for a player USA Hockey left off its final World Junior roster a year ago. Wyttenbach led all of college hockey in scoring as a true freshman last season, piling up 59 points in 40 games at Quinnipiac after Calgary took him in the fifth round in 2025.
Oilers prospect Ryan Cameron kept the Finland game scoreless through 20 minutes with 10 saves. Eetu Orpana got the Finns on the board late in the second, but Brooks Rogowski scored 34 seconds into the third and Jamie Glance and Carter Sanderson closed it out.

The nightcap was messier. USA White jumped Sweden with three first-period goals from Carter Amico, Jacob Kvasnicka and Chase Reid, then leaned on the power play to protect the lead.
Jack Murtagh finished with a goal and two assists, and Victor Plante set up three. Sweden answered through Milton Gastrin, Filip Ekberg, Jakob Ihs-Wozniak and Viktor Klingsell but never got closer than two.
Sweden has now dropped both of its games after opening the event with a 6-1 loss to USA Blue on Sunday. The Swedes won gold at the 2026 World Juniors and are trying to build toward a repeat.
The Americans switch to one centralized roster for the rest of the week. They face Finland on Wednesday, Sweden on Thursday and Canada on Saturday.
Canada rolled into Windsor on Monday evening and hasn’t played a game yet. The Showcase runs through Aug. 1 and sets the table for the 2027 World Juniors in Edmonton and Red Deer, which open Dec. 26.
