Taylor Hall finally has his playoff overtime moment.
Hall scored at 18:54 of overtime to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Second Round on Monday night at Lenovo Center. The Canes lead the best-of-seven series 2-0 heading to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Thursday.
Walt Ruff captured the moment:
Hall drove the net, watched his first shot get turned aside by Dan Vladar, then swiped the rebound past Vladar’s left pad and through the legs of Travis Sanheim during a goal-mouth scramble. It was his first career playoff overtime winner across seven postseason runs.
The night didn’t start the way Carolina drew it up. Jamie Drysdale buried a power-play wrister 4:02 into the first period, and Sean Couturier slipped a backhand-feed rebound past Frederik Andersen 39 seconds later to put Philadelphia up 2-0. That ended Carolina’s streak of not trailing in any 2026 playoff game at 618:51, dating back to April 7.
Then came the response.
Nikolaj Ehlers cashed a one-timer off a Jackson Blake feed at 10:21 of the first to cut the lead in half. Seth Jarvis tied it 2-2 at 11:21 of the third on another Ehlers setup, snapping a shot past Vladar from the right circle and forcing the extra frame.
Ehlers finished with a goal and an assist, Blake added two helpers, and Andersen turned aside 34 shots after the shaky opening minutes. The Canes built on Logan Stankoven’s Game 1 shutout effort and now have full control of the series.
Vladar made 39 saves on the other end, and Travis Konecny will be replaying his missed overtime breakaway for a while. Per the NHL.com recap, Hall’s winner came with 1:06 left in the OT period.
