The Canucks still can’t find a win.

Vancouver lost 4-2 to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night, its 10th straight game without a victory. The skid sits at 0-9-1, and the Canucks are 2-10-1 overall, last in the NHL.

Head coach Manny Malhotra talked about the second period, when a game the Canucks started well got away from them. Vancouver outshot Minnesota 10-5 in the first, then got outshot 29-7 the rest of the way.

“We’re searching for answers. It’s concerning. Just feel like we have a good period, we have an understanding as to why we had a good period, and then as soon as we come off of the things that we discuss and being physical and being aggressive and winning puck battles, we allow a transition team to come to life.”

That was Malhotra on the way the Wild took over. Minnesota scored on the power play late in the first, then added two more in the second.

Quinn Hughes, back in Rogers Arena for the first time since the trade, scored the goal that made it 3-0 in the second period. It was his 500th career point, and we have the full story in our Hughes goal recap. Watch it here:

Brock Boeser scored late in the third to cut it to 4-2, then explained why the second period keeps going sideways for this group.

“We keep talking about it, like we do it for a period, and then in the second period, we stopped doing it. I don’t know why. You can kind of see the ice tilt in their favor, and they get the momentum and we need to find a way to respond.”

After Thursday’s 5-2 loss to Detroit, the ninth in a row, Boeser was far blunter. He said he didn’t know where the disconnect was and called it “embarrassing.”

This is the second double-digit skid in as many seasons for Vancouver. Last year’s team set a franchise record with 11 straight losses in January. Here’s how this one has played out:
