The Ottawa Senators are giving Tyler Boucher another year to prove it.

General manager Steve Staios announced Friday that the club signed the 23-year-old forward to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2026-27 season. Boucher was Ottawa’s first-round pick, 10th overall, back in 2021.

Ottawa made it official on Friday afternoon:

Boucher is coming off the best year of his pro career. He put up 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in 47 games with AHL Belleville last season, all new highs. He also piled up 68 penalty minutes, so the physical edge that made him a first-rounder is still there.

Now in his fourth year in the organization, the winger has spent his last three seasons in Belleville. He has 115 AHL games on his resume and still hasn’t made his NHL debut.

Injuries have been a big part of the story. A leg injury ended his 2024-25 season in January when a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton player fell on him. Staying healthy has been the hard part for Boucher, not the skill.

There’s a familiar name attached here too. Tyler is the son of Brian Boucher, the longtime NHL goalie who once reeled off five straight shutouts with the Coyotes.

A two-way deal lets Boucher move between Ottawa and Belleville without a cap headache. It lines up with how the Senators have handled their depth this summer, from the Xavier Bourgault signing on down.

At 23, Boucher has time to turn a strong AHL year into an NHL look. This contract hands him one more shot to grab it.
