Sebastian Aho brought the Stanley Cup home, and Finland gave it a rock star welcome.

The Hurricanes center took his day with the Cup to Oulu on Saturday. He carried the trophy out on stage at a music festival while flames shot up from the ground and the crowd roared. Watch the scene Carolina shared:

Aho wore a jacket with “National Hockey League” and “Lord Stanley” stitched across the back, wrapped around a picture of the Cup. Not a bad way to spend a summer Saturday.

There was a reunion in the mix, too. Aho ran into Chicago Blackhawks forward Teuvo Teravainen in Oulu, and the two Finns lifted the Cup together for a photo. Here is the shot:

Those two go back a long way. Aho and Teravainen were Hurricanes teammates from 2016 to 2024 before Teravainen signed back with Chicago, the team he broke in with and won a Cup alongside in 2015. Running into an old linemate made the trip home even better.

Carolina finally got over the hump this spring, beating the Vegas Golden Knights in six games for the franchise’s first title since 2006. Aho, a three-time All-Star, has been the face of the Hurricanes for a decade. He earned this summer.

The Cup has been busy since Carolina lifted it. Frederik Andersen took it to Legoland in Denmark, and Nikolaj Ehlers gave it a Lamborghini ride in his home country. Aho’s stop in Oulu was the loudest of the bunch.
