Adam Jecho will not be at St. Louis Blues training camp next week.
The NHL and the NHLPA announced Friday that the 20-year-old forward is unavailable to the Blues for an indefinite period while he receives care from the Player Assistance Program. He comes back to the club only when program administrators clear him for on-ice competition.
Blues beat writer Jeremy Rutherford passed along the joint release, which gave no reason. It never does. The program stays confidential by design and covers mental health, substance use and other personal challenges, which is why the details almost never surface unless a player tells the story himself years later.
St. Louis drafted Jecho 95th overall in the third round in 2024 and signed him to a three-year entry-level contract in March 2025. He went back to junior for one more year and was set to open this season with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds.
Junior is where the 6-foot-5 Czech built his case. Three years with the Edmonton Oil Kings gave him 58 goals and 136 points in 157 games, and he wore an “A” last season. His 36 points in 47 games were the lowest total of the three.

Canada already knows the name. Jecho scored on the power play with 40 seconds left in the third period of the 2025 World Juniors quarterfinal, a goal that put Czechia in the semifinals and sent the hosts home. The Czechs finished the tournament with bronze.

Training camp opens Sept. 17 and the Blues start the season Oct. 2 against Dallas. Jecho will miss both, and nobody has attached a date to his return, which is how the program is built to work.
