Bedard, who was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a broken jaw, is one of seven players selected to make their first appearance in the NHL All-Star Game. The others are Anaheim Ducks forward Frank Vatrano, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner, Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger, Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhart, Seattle Kraken forward Oliver Bjorkstrand and St. Louis Blues forward Robert Thomas.

The seven players who were voted in via fan vote are Toronto’s William Nylander, Morgan Reilly and Mitch Marner, plus Vancouver’s Quinn Hughes, Brock Boeser, JT Miller and Thatcher Demko.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday, February 1 with the NHL All-Star Skills Competition, featuring events like the fastest skater, hardest shot, and shootout challenge. This year’s Skills Competition will have a new format where players accrue points towards a $1 million prize.

On Friday, February 2, the highly entertaining All-Star fantasy draft will take place. Captains Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews will select their teams, playground-style.

The 2024 All-Star Game itself takes place on Saturday, February 3. The 3-on-3 tournament format has produced thrilling hockey in recent years, and more fireworks are expected this time around on Toronto ice.
