Dylan Larkin thought about widening his trade list over the weekend. He never pulled the trigger.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said Thursday that the week has gone differently than he expected. He had heard the Red Wings center was weighing a change to his list of approved teams.

Friedman talked about which clubs are pushing to get in:

“I’d heard that on the weekend that Larkin was considering changing his list. Ultimately, he didn’t. I know there are some teams really trying hard to get in there. We’ve mentioned Buffalo, we’ve talked Montreal, I’ve mentioned St. Louis. I suspect Boston, honestly, is another one.”

Friedman added that he was surprised to hear Larkin hadn’t changed it, and that the Bruins have tried to get in on the sweepstakes.

He also explained why Boston would make sense for a player in Larkin’s spot. The Bruins sit atop the Atlantic Division after 16 games, and Friedman pointed to their +20 goal differential, second best in the league. “They play with structure,” he said.

The Bruins interest isn’t new. Detroit’s director of pro scouting, Kris Draper, was at Boston’s game against Vegas on Monday, and TSN’s Darren Dreger said the Bruins want on Larkin’s list while it remains an unchanged 10-team group.

That list is Minnesota, Vegas, Florida, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Colorado, Washington, Carolina, New Jersey and Utah. Interim GM Shawn Horcoff asked Larkin’s agents to add teams, and Pat Brisson told him no, per The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun.

Larkin has been suspended without pay since Oct. 29, so every day without a deal costs him money. Here’s Friedman’s post from the day Detroit announced the suspension:

Friedman also floated a Larkin-for-Kucherov idea earlier this week, and Tampa Bay is one of the 10 teams on Larkin’s list.

Right now the list sits at 10 teams, and Boston isn’t one of them.
