James Reimer is on his way out of the Rangers organization.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday that New York placed the goalie on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. Here’s his post:

Reimer passed through regular waivers Friday after Korpisalo came off injured reserve, and the Rangers assigned him to AHL Hartford. He appears to be skipping the trip to the Wolf Pack and choosing to leave the deal instead. Since he cleared waivers a day ago, another trip through before the Sunday 1 p.m. CT deadline is likely.

The Rangers signed him Oct. 25 after Igor Shesterkin went down with a season-ending knee injury. It was a one-year deal at the prorated league minimum of $850,000, and it followed a 35-save shutout in Hartford on a tryout.

His only appearance came Oct. 26 against the Kings. Reimer allowed three goals on eight shots and got pulled after one period. Take a look at the first goal he gave up:

Dylan Garand has started 13 of the Rangers’ 17 games and has been the guy ever since. Korpisalo is healthy again, so there was no job left for Reimer. We covered the first waiver move when New York put him on waivers Thursday.

Reimer is 38 and has played 540 NHL games over 17 seasons. Last year he posted an .886 save percentage in 14 appearances with the Senators.
