Jack Campbell is done.
The 34-year-old goaltender announced his retirement from hockey on Sunday, ending a career that took him from a top-15 draft pick to an All-Star season in Toronto and, eventually, a quiet finish in the minors.

The graphic runs through the stops. Dallas, Los Angeles, Toronto and Edmonton. The Stars grabbed Campbell 11th overall in 2010, the first goalie taken that year, and a ton of hype came with the pick after he backstopped Team USA to World Junior gold that same winter.
It took a while for the NHL part to click. Campbell bounced around Dallas and Los Angeles before landing in Toronto, where he finally became the goalie everyone thought he could be. He set a franchise record with 10 straight wins in 2021 and earned a spot in the 2022 All-Star Game.
That run in Toronto is where Campbell will be remembered best. Asked about the record night after his 10th consecutive win, he could barely get the words out.
“I’m lost for words right now,” Campbell told Sportsnet. “It’s been a long journey, and just to have their support, every single guy, it’s crazy. It’s a dream come true, something I worked very hard for.”

The high didn’t last. Campbell signed with Edmonton in free agency and the deal never worked, as the Oilers waived him in November 2023 and bought out the rest of the contract. He caught on with Detroit but stepped away to enter the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, and his last pro action came in the AHL.
Campbell finishes with 176 NHL games, a 93-52-18 record, a 2.76 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. He gave hockey more than a decade, and that emotional night in Toronto is the snapshot most fans will hold onto.
