Kevin Fiala will not be on the ice when Los Angeles Kings training camp opens.
The Kings announced Thursday that the 30-year-old winger underwent another procedure connected to the surgery that repaired his left leg in February. No return date came with it.
Los Angeles kept the details thin in a short statement on the injury:
“Forward Kevin Fiala underwent a procedure related to the initial surgery to repair injuries sustained at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Fiala is expected to miss the start of Training Camp. A timeline for his return to play will be determined as he continues to recover.”
Fiala got hurt on Feb. 13 at the Milano Cortina Olympics. He stepped up to meet Tom Wilson along the boards late in Switzerland’s 5-1 loss to Canada, the two tangled, and Wilson came down on his left leg at 17:10 of the third period.
Trainers took him off on a stretcher. Surgery in Italy followed the next morning to repair fractures in his lower left leg, and the Kings ruled him out for the rest of the season two days later.

He posted a photo from his hospital bed a few days later and thanked people for checking in. “Not the ending I imagined for my first Olympics,” he wrote on Instagram.
Losing him again hurts a group that just lost Anze Kopitar to retirement. Fiala sat third on the team in scoring when he went down, with 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 56 games, and he was slotted into a top line with Artemi Panarin for the stretch run.
Three years remain on the seven-year, $55.125 million contract ($7.875 million AAV) he signed on June 30, 2022, one day after Los Angeles acquired him from Minnesota for Brock Faber and a first-round pick.
Camp is days away and the season starts at the end of the month. The Kings will begin both without their most dangerous scorer, and nobody in the organization can say yet when that changes.
