Toronto Maple Leafs’ goalie Jack Campbell might be the nicest guy in the NHL.

Campbell got emotional with Sportsnet’s Shawn McKenzie after setting a Maple Leafs’ franchise record with 10 straight wins on Wednesday. The 29-year-old accomplished the feat by defeating the Montreal Canadiens by a 4-2 score at Scotiabank Arena.

Campbell, who has taken over for injured starter Frederik Andersen, is the first-ever Maple Leafs goaltender to win 10 consecutive games, breaking the record set by Felix Potvin (1993), Jacques Plant (1971) and John Ross Roach (1925). Campbell joins Carey Price (2016-17) as the only goalies in NHL history to begin a season 10-0-0.

Campbell has developed a reputation for being one of the most genuine and wholesome players in the sport. James Mirtle wrote a really good piece on the Athletic about Campbell’s journey and why’s he’s so respected by his peers and teammates.

After Campbell set the franchise record, his teammates were simply ecstatic. Auston Matthews was quoted on the ice telling Campbell, “I’m so f**king proud of you”. Mitch Marner counted to 10 with Campbell in one of the most heartwarming moments of the NHL season.

After Campbell made 32 saves to garner the victory and set the record, he joined Sportsnet’s Shawn McKenzie for a live post-game interview on television. The former LA Kings’ goalie got emotional when showed replay on the jumbotron of his teammates being happy for him. McKenzie also pointed out how much praise they had been giving him when speaking to media.

“It’s pretty awesome,” Campbell answered “Loss of words right now. It’s been a long journey. Just to have their support. Every single guy. It’s crazy. It’s a dream come true. Something I worked very hard for. There’s not a day that I don’t thank the Lord for putting me in Toronto with these amazing guys.”

Campbell also gave credit to his previous organization, the Los Angeles Kings, and closed out the interview with a classy “Thank you very much, Shawn. Take care”. You can see in the full video below why he’s such a fan favorite among the Toronto Maple Leafs.
