- Hyman defends Connor Ingram after Edmonton allowed seven goals in Game 3 loss to Anaheim
- Ducks score four times in the third period to grab a 2-1 series lead at Honda Center

Zach Hyman isn’t pointing the finger at his goaltender after Friday’s lopsided Game 3 loss to the Ducks.
Edmonton dropped a 7-4 result at Honda Center, and Hyman made it clear afterward that the meltdown wasn’t on Connor Ingram.
“Anytime you let in seven, it’s not a goalie problem, it’s just defending better,” Hyman told reporters. “We didn’t give ourselves a chance with the amount of goals we gave up.”
Ingram faced 38 shots and got beat by seven different Ducks scorers. Beckett Sennecke and Leo Carlsson, both still in their early 20s, lit Edmonton up 42 seconds apart early in the third period to turn a 3-3 tie into a 5-3 hole.
Connor McDavid finally got on the board with his first goal of the postseason, a power-play marker that cut Anaheim’s lead to one. Mikael Granlund put up a goal and three assists. Jeffrey Viel restored the two-goal cushion, and Jackson LaCombe iced it with an empty-netter.
The Ducks now hold a 2-1 series lead and picked up their first home playoff win in eight years. Anaheim hadn’t even reached the postseason since 2017 before this run.
Hyman wants a simpler approach in Game 4.
“Just play boring,” he said. “Putting it behind them, getting it to the top, shooting it, getting it back.”
The Oilers got outshot 20-7 in the first period alone and have been chasing the play through long stretches of this run-and-gun series. Edmonton lit Anaheim up for 11 goals across the first two games, so the open style cuts both ways.

Edmonton heads back out Sunday for Game 4 in Anaheim, with Hyman and the rest of the Oilers looking to dial back the firewagon hockey and tighten things up in front of Ingram.
