The Flames are going back to the black C for their final year in the Saddledome.
Calgary unveiled a 2004-style alternate jersey during the first period of Tuesday’s preseason game against Vancouver, and the club will wear it four times in 2026-27. Every one of those nights is booked against a team the Flames ran into during their 2004 playoff run.

It’s close to a straight copy of the red home sweater Calgary wore from 2003-04 through 2006-07, before the Reebok Edge template took over. Black Flaming C on the chest, Blasty patches on the shoulders, and the chevron striping running across the waist.
Alumni Robyn Regehr and Martin Gelinas were at the Saddledome for the announcement.
Here is how the four nights fall:
- Sat., Oct. 24: vs. Detroit Red Wings, the first wearing
- Sat., Dec. 26: vs. Vancouver Canucks on Boxing Day
- Tue., Dec. 29: vs. San Jose Sharks
- Sat., Jan. 9: vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
That 2004 run went Canucks, Red Wings, Sharks, and then seven games against Tampa Bay in the Stanley Cup Final. Plenty of people in Calgary still insist Gelinas put the Cup-winning goal across the line in Game 6.
Replicas land at the CGY Team Store on Oct. 23, a day before the Red Wings show up.
Demand around the farewell year has already been loud. Tickets for the final game at the Saddledome sold out in minutes earlier this month.
Those black C sweaters appear to be taking over as Calgary’s primary alternate, pushing the black Blasty set out of the rotation. A fourth jersey is still coming for the Flames as part of the league’s Hometown Remix program.
